GEOLOGY 101 – GEOLOGY FOR NON-GEOLOGISTS

OVERVIEW

This is a 2-day compact course designed for geologists, engineers, metallurgists, surveyors, mine supervisors, technicians, accountants, administration staff, mineral sector investors, marketers, financial advisors, and all those directly or indirectly involved with mining or seeking a better understanding about geology as a discipline and how ore deposits discoveries are made and mined out. This course will help you in wrapping your head around the technical “Mumbo-Jumbo” of geology for personal or work benefits.

Course Outcomes

Attendees will be introduced to a well synthesized overview of geology with emphasis on the mining sector. Learn the key geological processes and how these processes are employed as a tool in mineral deposit discoveries. Gain a good knowledge and understanding about how ore deposits are formed and classified, the key ore deposit belts in Ghana, estimation of a mineral resources and factors one has to consider in attracting mineral sector investors.

PRE-REQUISITES:

In order to fully realize the objectives of this course, attendees would at least have a reasonable understanding of basic data manipulation and graphical display tools and techniques commonly used in MS Excel environment. A basic grasp of mining and mineral industry terminology would be great but not essential.
