Evaluating gold potential of old tailings – Bibiani, Ghana

This project is rooted in the culture-rich Ashanti Kingdom of Ghana – the most prominent mining nation at the heart of the West-African earth resources sector. This project was aimed at evaluating the economic potential of gold in one of the old tailings sites. The Bibiani goldmine is located in the Western Region of Ghana and it is approximately 252km from the capital city Accra. Operations at the mine is believed to have started in 1909 and has since gone through various hands of ownership. With increasing activities of small scale mining, most of the tailing grounds have been reworked and this has inadvertently impacted the quality of the material. This resulted in the need to conduct considerable number of test pits to ascertain both the lateral and depth extent of the material within the demarcated zone.

Key activities performed in this project included:
• Mineral Exploration project planning and execution
• Exploration Geochemistry, Remote Sensing and Geophysics
• Mineral Exploration Sampling, Data Interpretation and QAQC reporting
• Geological and Geotechnical Sampling and Logging
