Aside mine automation, one of the evolving areas of focus for the mining industry is BIG DATA. Yet, a lot of engineering professional have lost the art of conveying meaningful information to support data-driven decision making. The seminar will explore some of the myths, good, bad of data visualisation with emphasis on key principles and best practice.
This delivery will focus on the essential Data visualization principles and learn how to communicate data-driven findings. This course uses actual mining industry data to highlight the weaknesses of several widely-used data visualization tools and artifacts, why they should avoid and emphasises best practice techniques, hints and tricks with basic tools. In order to fully realize the objectives of this course, attendees would at least have a reasonable understanding of basic data manipulation and graphical display tools and techniques commonly used in MS Excel environment. A basic grasp of mining and mineral industry terminology would be great but not essential.
