MINING FOR NON-MINERS

OVERVIEW

This 2-day course has been designed specifically for non-miners (technologists, IT Professionals, Accountants, Marketers, Human Resource Specialists, Legal Professionals, Investors, Bankers, Management Consultants, etc) who are working in or associated with the mining industry. This is a course for everyone who wants to understand and gain greater knowledge about the key fundamentals of the mine cycle and the mining industry – getting your head around the technical “Mumbo-Jambo”.

PROGRAM

Course Outcomes

Learn how a mining company takes a project through to a mining reserve; how to interpret company reports on mineral resources and exploration results; the mining cycle for underground and open pit mines; the basics of capital and operating costs and how they are incorporated into project valuation; pre-feasibility and feasibility studies; mine planning to optimise production; mine closure; and of course the key terminology of the mining industry

PRE-REQUISITES:

In order to fully realize the objectives of this course, attendees would at least have a reasonable understanding of basic data manipulation and graphical display tools and techniques commonly used in MS Excel environment. A basic grasp of mining and mineral industry terminology would be great but not essential.
